Northeast Ministry Receives a $35,000 Grant from R.K. Laros Foundation

BETHLEHEM, PA (January, 2019) Northeast Ministry, a non-profit social service agency serving the Marvine-Pembroke community of Northeast Bethlehem, has been awarded a $35,000 grant from the R.K. Laros Foundation, a non-profit charitable trust.

The support will provide a new security system for Northeast Ministry, which operates out of Bethlehem Housing Authority’s historical Marjorie B. Fink building. The high-quality system will include video surveillance cameras, exterior security lighting, intrusion detection, intercom entry system, and an access control system.

“The safety of children and families of Marvine-Pembroke is our top priority,” said Mrs. Paula Johnson, Northeast Ministry executive director. “This generous grant will allow Northeast Ministry to implement the appropriate safety features that all public buildings should possess. For the R.K. Laros Foundation to choose a small organization like Northeast Ministry to be the recipient of a large grant really shows that they believe in the impact we make in the Bethlehem community.”

The grant was presented on January 17, 2019 by representatives from the R.K. Laros Foundation including Mr. Ron Donchez, a former Board of Directors president of Northeast Ministry. Donchez expressed how impactful involvement and community outreach within the Marvine-Pembroke neighborhood was, including his relationship with organization founder, Sally Young.
